Lime Street Station, LiverPool UK: There is a giant spider attached to the building across the street from the train station. It is a mysterious mechanical spider, larger than anything in nature, yet somehow oddly compelling not not icky at all. Unless you really don’t like spiders.

Set a google alert for the story as it unfolds over the next few days!

P.S. The Spider is being called “La Princesse” for the time being.

RoboJellies were all the rage a few months ago when Festo unleashed it’s new and exciting technology but here is the finest video I have seen so far:

So simple, but you totally wish you had thought of it first. Maybe you did, in which case you just wish you had actually done it.

The Flaming Lotus Girls, personally my favorite women-based large scale fire arts collective, have been toiling on Mutopia since January. There are lots of things they would like to change and improve and add to this piece, according to various members, but it just goes to show that accomplished projects that they said could not be done in the first place rarely leave the audience disappointed, no matter what you wish you had done differently.

There are oodles of pics available on the Mutopia Blog, but here is a short video that in no way captures what it was like to actually stand underneath it when it went on full blast:

I think the improper rotation of the camera only adds to the experience don’t you? This was the only video I could find that shows the color flame effects. When I find something nicer I will post it.

And here is a wee vimeo video collected by Eddie Codel that shows the process in the shop and etc. The footage was shot and put together by Olivier Bonin of MadNomad Films:
