Your Tax Dollars Fund Creepy Robots

October 5th, 2007 by The Head Rotor

And boy, do I mean creepy. From DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency):

The HI-MEMS program is aimed at developing tightly coupled machine-insect interfaces by placing micro-mechanical systems inside the insects during the early stages of metamorphosis.

I guess if you can’t build ‘em, grow ‘em. As far as the Rotor can tell, this is real and not some David Cronenberg dystopian sci-fi nightmare. No pictures, which is probably a Good Thing.

Yeek.

Dystopian sci-fi nightmare? You’re living in it.

Holy crap that *is* creepy. But I do want pictures. I do.

For some reason this makes me want to stock the air raid shelter with Black Flag and depleted uranium rail guns. And watch Terminator for combat tips.
