Roachbot
January 5th, 2007 by SBThe hamster thingy the Head Rotor found reminded me of another thing in addition to the thing we were talking about in the comments (hint, all you lurkers).
Behold, Roach Bot!
This little roachbot has been around the block a few times and has an extensively chronicled history, including photo sessions at SRL and Dorkbot San Francisco.
The lusciously prolific and frighteningly intelligent Garnet Hertz of Concept Lab, along with being the creator of Roachbot, is using his many and varied powers for a variety of good and constructive evil.
If I get down to the SRL shop any time soon I will take pictures of one of the no doubt many inspirations for Roachbot and other non-sentient-being controlled robots, the robot powered by Stu the Guinea Pig. Watch this space for updates.

Does PETA know about this? Because it seems like they’d be all over this kind of thing. “Cockroach exploitation!” And when that happens I can’t help but smile.
Sorry.
Also I’ve not seen the ‘bigger’ picture before now, only the cloesup. This thing is totally cool! Hmm… *imagines roboreptile interaction*

Wait, “lusciously prolific and frighteningly intelligent?”
I’m guessing this was written by trendy girlfriend/photographer or someone equally queasy about a cute, smart guy with an awesome tattoos.
Anyway.
Things done in the name of science aren’t the most frightening to me, but rather those done with hubris in art and fashion - two common forms of self expression that have managed to evolve without ethical canon into our modern, civilized society.

Nope! I wrote it, and I’m neither. I am not sure if Garnet has tattoos or not, I’ll ask someone. The internets sure is an interesting thing, no? At times impersonal then pokes you in the kidneys with intimacy.
As for things done with hubris in art and fashion: Do they frighten you in a good way or a bad way?
