Can’t remember where this came from. (No the Rotor has NOT been browsing furry fansites. Don’t be ridiculous.)

Didn’t SRL have a hamster-bot?

Credit, we suppose, to “Aerythes” whomever that may be.

SRL had a GUINEA PIG robot. It was kind of a four legged waldo that the guinea pig rode on top of. It is described in detail (with photos) in Re/Search publications PRANKS.

IIRC the critter’s feet where strapped in and is motions were used to control the motion of the four legged bot he was riding. So if the pig walked forward, the ‘bot walked forward, if it ran back, the ‘bot ran back. Mark Pauline claims that they fed the critter lettuce the whole time and it enjoyed it very much.

Squishy and delightful Amybean responds to my errant query regarding SRL’s guinea pig controlled machine:

A Scenic Harvest from the Kingdom of Pain 45 min. 1984 $20.00 Documentation of three SRL events, 1983-1984. Meet Stu, the SRL guinea pig, and see him training to operate the 4-legged Walking Machine, see 10-barrel shotguns, hear the “Stairway to Hell”.

Keep these people in business and buy a video, , my fellow cheapskates. . .

[...] The hamster thingy the Head Rotor found reminded me of another thing in addition to the thing we were talking about in the comments (hint, all you lurkers). Behold, Roach Bot! [...]

[...] Cool stuff down at CES a few weeks ago. SB pal Michael over there at Ideal Mechanism was there (along with our own Mr. Robotics), and has a good rundown of the robot action there. To remind people that the Rotor does not have a furry thing going on, we won’t mention the hamster-ball-controlled Roomba. [...]
