I have one at home. One of about ten total in the US (Sorry Head Rotor/FanBoy. Maybe you can come over and play with mine.)

It's got on-board Linux, comes with Windows-based programmable software, has a build in sub-woofer, can take up to a 2Gig smart media card, and is basically a walking iPod.

It also comes with four build in personalities. One C-3PO-like, one Cowboy, One Robby-like, and a gernalized version (the default.)

Oh, built in digital camera too. Don't remember the res, but you can use the remote to take the photo. Small LCD on the bots chest.

THe remote is still IR (light) based rather than being FM/UHF/WiFi, so the remote must be line of sight. That's the big drawback. ANd it's not 100% coverage. More like 90% front and 90% rear. If you turn the robot away from you, it can lose signal.

To KJH: the RS Media picture is actually hotlinked to its source: the Street Tech post from where we, um, borrowed it. We at SB like to give credit where credit is due; perhaps we need to be more careful about making that obvious.

Yeah, the RS Media is way cooler than it should be. Mr. Robotics has a big juicy review coming down the pipe soon!

The official name of the red and silver bot is the "RS Media". I'm curious as to where you got that picture, because it doesn't really clearly show the screen in the middle of his chest, since he can play back videos and photos, as well as record them with the camera in his head. Yup, the V2 isn't new - it has been out for some time.
Sigh - it's true - the RS Media isn't going to be released in the States until Fall 2007 (maybe Summer if we're lucky). If you want to keep up to date with what's going on until you can get your hands on one, check out RoboCommunity.

I don't think it's that new, but it's definitely available. (Mr. Robotics would know more.) If you are really jonesing for the new, here's the V3:

I wasn't going to mention it because YOU CAN'T GET IT IN THE US. Sucks to be a fanboy!
